Symantec endpoint definitions not updating client
These updates occur roughly three times a day on average. While in the field we have seen clients use GUPs in different ways, the purpose of the GUPs was to reduce bandwidth requirements.Where exactly does the Scan Engine get the updates from? When I log into the Symantec Scan Engine 5.1 web page and select Home on the left side of the page the "Date of Virus Definitions" is May of 2008. Edition 10.1.7.7000) definition is dated Feb 11, 2010.I've got several questions about the Symantec Scan Engine.I've posted these questions to Symantec and still waiting on answers. On the next heartbeat interval the client will then download the definition from the GUP.If the client is not able to download the definition from the GUP due to the amount of time it takes or if the GUP is unavailable, it will then default to pulling definitions from the SEPM.
Any one else experience this type of issue when deploying SEP11? Two clients actually show as connected to the SEP Management Console (the server that the management software is on and a desktop workstation).
If a client is not receiving updates automatically, follow this process.
The GUP technology in SEP allows administrators to designate client systems within the environment to distribute client definitions in a peer fashion.
These files do not contain the required files needed by a SEPM or SAV Parent to additionally update any clients attached.
I have a Symantec Corporate Edition 10.01 since 2006 and the definitions stopped updating the first week of July 2013.
Is it true that the Symantec Scan Engine needs the -x86 update?
